Foundations of Diversity & Inclusion: Exploring Identity & Bias

Wherever you are in your diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, there is one key element required for long term success: a strong foundation. To create a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within a company, it’s crucial to ensure that everyone has a basic understanding of the core principles of DEI work and a common vocabulary of DEI principles. Beginners and experts alike find this interactive workshop to be both engaging and refreshing.

During the workshop, we explore a variety of both hidden and visible identities to consider when working to create more inclusive work environments. We introduce common and lesser known biases that can unintentionally influence our thoughts, behaviors, actions, and outcomes. We also acknowledge the role that biology and evolution have played in creating these biases and how they can be disrupted to reap the rewards of a truly diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization.

Throughout this workshop we’ll…
* Acknowledge the effort and value in investing in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
* Help develop an understanding of how we view ourselves and others and how our blindspots can make it difficult for us to fulfill the promise of our DEI work.
* Establish a common vocabulary for having productive conversations around identities and biases.
