Taste gourmet olive oil or wine with Italian experts

Our Tasting Experiences

In our olive oil session, you will discover the subtle and distinctive flavors of three of Italy’s best olive oils, produced in a Tuscan village that Tracy, our olive oil expert, knows well. Tracy will teach you the proper tasting technique to unlock flavors you would have never noticed. We’ll ship you the olive oils.

Learn about the wines of Tuscany from Alessandro, a local expert while tasting some recommended bottles. We’ll focus on the red Riserva wines of the Chianti region, but we’ll also take a look at some Tuscan whites. We can supply the wines in some US states. In others, we can make recommendations. Fortunately, good Chianti isn’t hard to find anywhere!

Our Presenters

Tracy Hyde will lead our olive oil class. Tracy was born in England and has lived in Italy for the past thirty years. She lives in a small hamlet, in the middle of a forest about half an hour away from Siena. She has embraced the Italian way of life and Italy was the country in which she chose to bring up her children. She considers the family values, food, culture and beauty of the country second to none. She has always enjoyed working with people, on cruise ships, in the family wine business, teaching English as a foreign language and now with Untours.

Alessandro Grisolini will lead our wine class. Alessandro has worked as a tour leader in Florence for 16 years. In 2013 he worked with Michael Palin (formerly of Monty Python) on a BBC documentary series in Rome. Prior to his career in tourism Alessandro worked in theater and as a high school English teacher. He now lives in a village in the Chianti region outside Florence.

My Background

Untours has been offering European travel experiences since 1975 when we were founded by Dr. Hal Taussig, a former college professor. While we have primarily worked with individuals and families, we have also worked with organisations like Bryn Mawr College, Willow Valley Communities, and AARP. We have always been about making European culture accessible to Americans.

As part of that mission, we have created virtual experiences for those who want a taste of Europe without getting on a plane. We’ve tapped our extensive network of local experts across Europe to bring these unique learning opportunities to you.
